PVC Ball Valve

What is a PVC ball valve?

PVC ball valves are one of the most versatile and widely used types of valves on the market today. They are suitable for use in a wide range of industries and applications, including plumbing, automotive, and chemical processing. PVC ball valves are known for their durability and reliability, and they are an excellent choice for use in high-pressure applications.

PVC is a thermoplastic, meaning it can be molded and shaped using heat. It's made from combining chlorine and ethylene, two of the most abundant materials on Earth. PVC is strong and weather resistant, making it ideal for construction applications. It's also used in plumbing, electrical wiring, and packaging. In this post from Hydroplast (Pvt) Ltd, we are going to discuss some of the features of these valves that make them so popular. We will also provide a few tips on how to select the right valve for your needs.

How it works

A ball valve is a type of valve that is used to control the flow of fluids. It consists of a ball that is placed in a chamber with two or more ports. The ball has a hole in the center that allows fluid to flow through it when the valve is open. The ball is held in place by a stem that is connected to a handle. When the handle is turned, the stem moves the ball and changes the position of the hole.

Types of PVC ball valves

There are five different body types of PVC ball valves: single, three-piece, split, top entry, and welded.

1.       Single piece ball valves are the most common type of PVC ball valve. They are simple in design and easy to operate.

2.       Three-piece ball valves have a body that is composed of three pieces: the bottom piece where the ball sits, the middle piece with the stem, and the top piece with the handle.

3.       Split body ball valves have a split in the body that allows for easy maintenance and repair.

4.       Top entry ball valves have the advantage of being able to be installed in tight spaces.

5.       Welded ball valves have a welded joint that creates a leak-proof seal.

PVC ball valves are created with a variety of different methods, each with its own benefits and drawbacks. The most common method is to create the casing out of a single piece of PVC pipe, which is then cut to size and fitted with a ball. This method is simple and effective, but it can be difficult to achieve a tight seal.

Another method is to create the casing out of two pieces of PVC pipe that are glued together. This provides a more secure seal, but it can be more difficult to install the ball valve correctly.

Finally, some manufacturers create the casing out of multiple pieces of PVC pipe that are welded together. This creates an incredibly strong and durable casing, but it can be very difficult to install correctly.

Advantages of PVC ball valves

The PVC ball valve can be utilized for fluid modification and control in addition to cutting off or connecting the medium in the pipeline. It provides the following benefits over other valves:

CPVC Ball Valve with Flanges

There is little fluid resistance, and the ball valve has the least fluid resistance of any of the valves. The fluid resistance is incredibly low, even though it is a ball valve with a smaller diameter. A new type of ball valve made of UPVC was created to meet the demands of diverse corrosive pipeline fluids. Product benefits:

The valve body has a wide range of applications, sanitary and non-toxic materials, wear resistance, quick disassembly, and simple maintenance. It is also lightweight, strong against corrosion, compact, and attractive. PPR, PVDF, PPH, CPVC, and other plastics are also used to make plastic ball valves in addition to PVC.

Ball valves made of PVC have exceptional corrosion resistance.

prolonged service life and excellent corrosion resistance.

Flexible and simple to utilize.

PVC ball valve, which is integrated, offers fewer places of leakage, high strength, and ease of connection and disassembly.

Ball valve installation and use:

To avoid leaks brought on by flange deformation, the bolts at both ends of the pipeline should be tightened. Close the door by turning the handle in a clockwise direction. It should not have a flow adjustment feature and can only be used to stop or pass the flow. Hard particles suspended in the liquid tend to scrape the ball's surface. The ball valve is described as a valve whose opening and closing elements (balls) are powered by the valve stem and rotate about the axis of the valve stem in the standard GB/T21465-2008 "Valve Terms." It can be utilized for fluid modification and control in addition to being primarily employed to shut off or join the medium in the pipeline. Between them, there is a powerful shear that is particularly suited for media containing fibers and microscopic solid particles between the V-shaped core of the hard-sealed V-shaped ball valve and the metal seat of the hard alloy.

The multi-way ball valve has the flexibility to close any channel and link the other two channels, as well as to flexibly manage the merge, split, and flow direction of the medium on the pipeline.

In the pipeline, this kind of valve should typically be put horizontally.

FAQ

Can PVC ball valves be used for hot water?

Yes, PVC ball valves can be used for hot water. They are durable and can withstand high temperatures, making them ideal for use in hot water applications. However, it is important to note that PVC ball valves are not suitable for use in applications where the water is pressurized, as they are not designed to withstand high pressures.

Is it safe to use PVC ball valves for potable water supply?

Drinking water can be transported safely using PVC pipes. This is a result of their high level of inertness and corrosion resistance. Therefore, PVC pipes are devoid of biofilm contamination, which could serve as a bacterial nidus. PVC pipes contribute to the provision of clean water, which is good for everyone's health.

To what degree does PVC produce fumes?

If PVC does catch fire, it may be confirmed that the fumes emanating from the pipe at 158 degrees Fahrenheit are hydrogen chloride gas burning off of the PVC surface. This gas will actually displace oxygen, almost self-extinguishing the fires.

How to join a PVC ball valve into a PVC pipe?

Installing a PVC ball valve into a PVC pipe is a simple process that anyone can do with the right tools and instructions. Here is what you need to know in order to join a PVC ball valve into a PVC pipe:

First, gather the necessary supplies. You will need a PVC ball valve, a length of PVC pipe, PVC primer, PVC cement, and a hacksaw. Make sure that the ball valve and the pipe are of the same diameter.

Next, use the hacksaw to cut the PVC pipe to the desired length. Once the pipe is cut, clean up any rough edges with sandpaper.

Now it's time to apply the primer and cement to both the inside of the pipe and outside of the valve. Join the two pieces together and hold for 30 seconds while the cement sets.
